Summary

New American Funding Breach: Vendor Hack Exposes Up to 50K Borrowers TUSTIN CA – New American Funding a nationwide mortgage lender is facing the consequences of a vendor breach that may have exposed sensitive borrower data. Our analysis shows that between 30 000 and 50 000 individuals are impacted with 38 200 phone numbers , 26 800 email addresses and 10 800 Social Security numbers appearing in the compromised dataset.

What Happened? On June 6 2025 New American Funding was notified that Mobile Notary Zone (MNZ) – a third-party vendor that provided notary services for loan closings – had suffered a data security incident. An unauthorized actor accessed MNZ’s systems and exfiltrated consumer information tied to mortgage closing documents. New American Funding emphasized that its own internal systems were not breached but terminated its relationship with MNZ and launched a forensic investigation with external cybersecurity experts. No ransomware group has claimed responsibility to date, leaving the attack unattributed.

Who Is Impacted? The breached data is linked to closing packages processed through MNZ. Based on official disclosures and our dataset parse the following information was exposed:

Names addresses dates of birth Social Security numbers (10 800 unique SSNs) Emails (26 800) and phone numbers (38 200) Financial information from closing documents

This means borrowers co-borrowers and guarantors on mortgage loans handled through NAF may be affected.

June 6 2025 – Suspicious activity detected; NAF notified of vendor breach. July 11 2025 – NAF files with the California Attorney General and begins mailing notices to consumers. July 11 2025Washington AG confirms 1 991 state residents affected; NAF reports terminating MNZ relationship and notifying law enforcement/federal regulators. July-August 2025, – Plaintiff firms begin advertising class-action investigations.

What Is Being Done?, New American Funding says it:

Terminated its vendor relationship with MNZ. Notified law enforcement and regulators (including state AGs). Began mailing notices to affected individuals in July 2025. Is offering credit monitoring and identity protection services .
